Dr Choong May Ling, Mimi was appointed as Deputy Secretary (Services) of the Ministry of Education, Singapore on 1 May 2010. Her responsibilities include Personnel, Finance, and School Planning and Placement.
Dr Choong began her civil service career in the Ministry of Health, and has worked in SGH, KKH and MOH HQ. She joined the Administrative Service of the Singapore Civil Service in 1989. She has since served in various capacities in the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, the former Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts. Her last appointment prior to her current one was as Deputy Secretary (Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs from 1 December 2003 to 30 April 2010. Dr Choong is currently a member of the Singapore Management University Board of Trustees and the Charity Council. She has served on the Building and Construction Authority Board, the Cisco Board, the National Environment Agency Board, and the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee Board. She was Deputy Chairman of the Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises from January 2004 to April 2010.
Dr Choong graduated with a medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1986. She attended the Program for Management Development in the Harvard Business School in 1998, and the Advanced Management Program in the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2008.
