SMU graduates are known to be bold, confident and articulate, and have been enjoying strong employability in a variety of careers and in a diversity of industries, both in the public and private sectors. We continue to do well in our Graduate Employer Surveys, with a high proportion of our graduates securing jobs, either before or within one month of graduation.
The learning outcome of our pedagogy helps produce such a strong performance from our graduates. They take initiatives, think outside of the box, assume leadership and take responsibility for what they do. They combine hard professional knowledge skills with soft people skills. Our multi-disciplinary approach allows them to pursue double degrees or second majors, which open doors to a myriad of career opportunities.
To prepare for life after graduation, our students undertake internships to gain working experience, and go through comprehensive training on essential career skills delivered through dynamic “The Finishing Touch” courses and workshops (for example, resume writing, business etiquette, salary negotiation, interview techniques and presentation skills). Such skills are highly valued by employers and a good advantage to have, especially in today’s tough economic climate and the increasingly challenging job market.
