It’s about raising the bar.
The LLB programme aims to produce law graduates who have contextualised legal knowledge and the ability to think across disciplines and geographical borders. A distinctive feature of the programme is the close involvement of Associates in the teaching pedagogy. These Associates comprise judges, legal officers, legal practitioners (including Senior Counsels) from law firms and other corporations who participate in the classroom teaching of law courses and/or to give guest lectures. This provides students with first-hand learning and real-world knowledge. SMU law graduates can choose to work in a wide variety of legal fields, including corporate and commercial law, criminal law, family law, other law-related jobs such as in-house counsel work in a multi-national company or any corporate organisation, state counsel/prosecution and judicial work in the Singapore Legal Service and international practice in a foreign law firm.
