The Bachelor of Science (Economics) programme develops in students a solid foundation in economics principles, a sharp understanding of global developments and a repertoire of analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Modelled after the best of America’s undergraduate economics programmes with Asian applications, the programme provides a good balance of broad-based fundamentals and real-world knowledge. Students can opt to do a second major in a wide array of disciplines offered by the other SMU schools. Moreover, reflecting the synergy between the various SMU degree programmes, outstanding students may enrol in a double degree programme. The BSc (Econ) programme gives graduates the competitive edge in the job market by opening doors to a wide variety of career opportunities – banking and finance, consulting firms, property, shipping and public service.
