SMU students may be considered for awards sponsored by various organizations in recognition of their outstanding achievements, in academics, community service, and co-curricular involvements. Some awards are given automatically based on performance; others by application.

Sponsored by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd, the prestigious SPH Magazines Salutatorian Award is given annually to the second highest ranking graduating student from the graduating cohort. The Award is aimed at recognising exceptional students and to spur them to greater heights of excellence.
The Award will be presented at the SMU Commencement Ceremony. The recipient will deliver the Salutatorian Address on behalf of the graduating body of students.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates vying for the award must meet the following criteria:
- Achieved a summa cum laude
- Outstanding leadership skills, with significant contributions to co-curricular activities and the community at large
- Good character records
- Excellent oratorical skills
- The Award will only be given if there is a candidate of sufficient merit
