Q. How do I apply for scholarships?
A. In the online application form for admission, you will also be asked to indicate your choices of scholarships. If you have submitted an online application for admission without having indicated your choices of scholarships, you may do so by applying for scholarships through Applicant's Self Service.
Q. Does SMU offer any financial aid?
A. SMU has a range of financial assistance schemes to help students in the payment of their tuition fees. Please note that these schemes cover the subsidised tuition fees only. They do not cover the miscellaneous fees charged by the University. Please click here for more details.
Q. How do I know if I am eligible for financial aid?
A. You may use the Student Financial Aid calculator to help determine if you are eligible and to find out the type and quantum of financial aid that you may qualify for.
Q. How do I pay my tuition fees? Can I pay in instalments?
A. Fees are payable in two instalments in a year – in the first and second semester.
Q. What are the miscellaneous fees and how often do I have to pay?
A. Miscellaneous fees are fees charged for registration, information technology, library, sports-related, student activity, insurance and other orientation and academic-related services. They are compulsory and are payable once a year prior to the start of the new academic year.
Q. What is the Tuition Grant Scheme?
A. The Tuition Grant Scheme was introduced by the Singapore Government to subsidise the high cost of tertiary education in Singapore . Applicants admitted into SMU undergraduate programmes are eligible to apply for the subsidy under this scheme. In exchange for this subsidy, all non-Singaporean students (including Permanent Residents) are required to sign a Tuition Grant agreement in which they will be contractually obliged to work in Singapore-registered companies for a period of 3 years upon graduation. Q. Will students paying full tuition fees or unsubsidised tuition fees be eligible for any scholarships or financial assistance?
A. Students paying full tuition fees or unsubsidised tuition fees are not eligible to apply for any scholarships and financial assistance.
Q. What would be my tuition fees if I am admitted to the Double Degree Programme (DDP)?
A. DDP students are required to pay the higher of the tuition fees if both degree programmes are priced differently e.g. Law students pay higher tuition fees.
Q. Does tuition fees include accommodation and food?
A. Tuition Fees exclude accommodation, miscellaneous fees, cost of books and study materials, and living expenses. Click here for more information.
