Transfer Students
 

Applicants who have studied for a term or more at a university may apply as transfer students. Transfers are considered on a case-by-case basis and should meet the admissions criteria for freshmen.

The basic requirements for applicants are:
• GCE A-Levels / Polytechnic Diploma / At least 12 years of education and have taken a recognized national / international examination. Please click here for a list of international qualifications for the purpose of admission.

• University examination results

SAT Reasoning Test (Compulsory for applicants holding international qualifications)

• Interview for all Short-listed applicants

TOEFL or IELTS (For applicants whose first language is not English)

The Dean’s Office will consider credits transferable after an offer of a place has been made.

Transfer applicants must furnish original or certified true copies of educational records (with English translations if appropriate), reflecting all completed secondary school and university course work and examinations, as well as a detailed syllabus of the subjects already taken at the university level. The syllabus should contain information on topics covered, textbooks used, contact hours and assessment method.

TOEFL applicants should indicate the code number 9014 on their answer sheets. A copy of their TOEFL scores will be sent directly to SMU.

Application: Transfer students should apply under the category that matches their high school qualification. There is no separate category for transfer students.
