Installation Steps
 

Automated Installation of SMU Suite of Applications
(Est. 30-45min)

  1. Click Start > Run and type \\fs21\applications. You will not be able to access this server if you are not properly connected to the network.
  2. Go to PC Software Image > Student, you will see the following :-
  3. Double click on Student installation_xp_office07.exe (For Students using Windows XP) or right-mouse click run as administrator on Student installation_vista_office07.exe (For Students using Windows Vista)
  4. With this automated installation, you would only need to require clicking Yes/ Agree to proceed the next screen or software installation.

    List of Software to be installed when using the batch file in sequence:

    • 1 MS Office Pro 2007 (Win)w SP2#
    • 2 Save as PDF & XPS
    • 3 Adobe Reader 9.1
    • 4 SMU Vista Patch (Java)
    • 5 Virtual Learning Community
    • 6 Virtual Canvas
    • 7 Endnote X2
    • 8 Macromedia Shockwave Player
    • 9 Adobe Flash Player
    • 10 VLC Player
    • 11 Real Player
    • 12 Wifi Helper
    • 13 Trendmicro Antivirus*
    • 14 SMU VPN

    Note: Do not restart if you wish to install the complete list of software.

    * Trendmicro - Office scan antivirus will not be installed if you did not run as administrator account. You may wish to seek Helpdesk for assistance if you encounter any problems.

    # All students will be licensed to install Microsoft Office 2007/2003 provided they have signed the Microsoft Agreement form at IITS Helpdesk. All students (Undergraduates/ Exchange/ Bridging/ Post Graduates) will be required to uninstall Microsoft office upon leaving SMU. Post graduates & full-time students (except Exchange and Bridging student) will continue to be entitled using Microsoft Office 2007/2003 installed on their existing notebooks provided they have graduated & have signed the Microsoft Student Confirmation Agreement upon graduation.
