Join SMU Student Domain
 

You can only join the SMU Student Domain at either the IITS Helpdesk Self-Help corner or the DIY Clinic. Please ensure the network cable is plugged in and you are connected to the LAN

  1. Click on Start > Control Panel. (Make sure you have already switched to Classic view.)
  2. Double click on the System icon.
  3. Click on Computer name, then click on Change.

    Note: Please change your computer name to the following format:
     Username (example)Computer name for Notebook (example)
    Student ( from year 2007)ammy.liao.2007ammyliao2007
    Student ( from year 2006)ammy.liao.2006ammyliao2006
    Student ( from year 2005)Beeny.koh.2005Beenykoh2005

    Click OK after changes.


  4. Restart your PC if you made changes. Else, proceed to step 5.
  5. Repeat step 1 and 2 and click on Computer name, then click on Change.
  6. At Member of, click Domain and key in smustu. Click Ok.
  7. Key in your username and password and click Ok.
    E.g. Username : smustu\ beeny.koh.2005
            Password : ******* ( your SMUSTU password)
  8. You will be prompted " Welcome to SMUSTU domain", click Ok.

    If you do not see the above welcome message, please approach any of the helpdesk staff for assistance.
  9. Click Ok when you see the prompt - "You must restart this computer for the changes to take effect".
  10. Click Ok again
  11. Click on Ok when prompted to restart your computer.
  12. Login with your User name and Password to the SMUSTU domain.
    For details, click here.
  13. You would be able to see thenetwork drives (H: , I: , J:) if you have joined the SMU domain successfully.

Note: To be able to install programs using this profile (e.g. Username: beeny.koh.2005 ) , please proceed to the next section 'SETTING ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS FOR SMU USERNAME'.
